Portuguese Cycling Federation presented Volta ao Algarve 2025 at FITUR in Madrid

Invited by the Algarve Tourism Region, the Portuguese Cycling Federation was present at the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR), where it presented the 51st edition of the Volta ao Algarve, one of the major sporting events that takes place annually in the region.

The presentation took place this Saturday, on the first day of the event open to the public, at the Turismo de Portugal stand (Pavilion 4), which also includes Turismo do Algarve.

“FITUR is one of the biggest tourism fairs in the world and our presence here, at the invitation of the Algarve Tourism Board, is an excellent opportunity to promote the Volta ao Algarve to the Ibero-American market, particularly Spain”, said Cândido Barbosa, president of the Portuguese Cycling Federation.

Considered the best world stage of the UCI Proseries Circuit in 2023 and 2024, the 51st edition of the Volta ao Algarve will take to the road this year between February 19 and 23, maintaining the concept of offering stages for all profiles of riders, including some of the main stars of the world peloton.

“In addition to the sporting side, the Volta ao Algarve is also an excellent tourist product, promoting unique experiences over five days of racing, attracting audiences from all over the country and the world”, said Cândido Barbosa.

As in previous years, the 51st edition of the Volta ao Algarve will include in its program the Algarve Granfondo, on February 22, an immersive journey through the most genuine and lesser-known landscapes of the interior of the Algarve, where participants will be able to choose between two challenges: the 130 kilometers of the Granfondo or the 90 kilometers of the Mediofondo.

Departing from Faro, more than 1,000 amateur cyclists are expected to take part in this, the Volta ao Algarve’s popular event.
