Two more WorldTeams confirmed for the Algarve

The peloton for the 51st Volta ao Algarve, which will take place between 19 and 23 February 2025, continues to take shape, with four WorldTeams already confirmed.

Following the announcement of the participation of Alpecin-Deceunink and Groupama-FDJ, today we can announce the confirmation of the presence of the American EF Education-EasyPost and the Dutch Team dsm-firmenich PostNL.

EF Education-EasyPost is the team of Portuguese road race champion Rui Costa and is one of the teams that has been strengthening the most this off-season, with several big signings.

It will be the US-based team’s tenth participation. Previous appearances have included the 2023 edition, in which Magnus Cort Nielsen won the Fóia and Tavira stages to claim the green jersey of the points classification.

Team desm-firmenich PostNL will be racing the Volta ao Algarve for the sixth time, having stood on the podium in four of their previous participations.

The Dutch team has already won the youth classification through Oscar Onley (2023) and Sam Oomen (2018), and won a stage through Cees Bol in 2020. A year earlier, Søren Kragh Andersen was second in the general classification, beaten only by the rising star Tadej Pogačar.

The Volta ao Algarve is the only Portuguese stage race on the UCI ProSeries circuit.
